Pitch Black leans into a genuinely appealing theme — darkness, ghosts, and a menacing Mega Darkrai ex as the poster card. On looks alone it’s one of the more atmospheric Mega Evolution sets, and the illustration rares and special illustration rares should be gorgeous.

As always with a current-era set, we’d separate enjoyment from investment. Modern Mega Evolution sets are printed heavily and singles stay affordable, which is great for collectors and set-builders but caps the upside on sealed product while it’s widely available. The Mega Darkrai ex chase cards — especially the top-numbered alt art — will carry the demand; the rest of the set is a fun, attainable master-set project.
